Zatanna Zatara is the daughter of the magician Giovanni Zatara and Sindella, who is a member of the magical Homo Magi race. After her birth Sindella died and Giovanni raised Zatanna in Gotham City. He trained her to a succesful illusionist until one day he disappears. Zatanna discovers her true magical powers while searching her father. She finds out that Giovanni is forced to stay away from his daughter due to a spell from the evil sorceress Allura...
