Synopsis

A powerful force, led by the new enemy Master Hand, has gone from universe to universe looking for worthy warriors and see which one will come on top and be his second in command. He has found at least one in every single universe. But he had to coerce them by capturing their friends, families or allies. Mario and Sonic have to rescue Tails, Luigi, Tom and Maddie Wachowski, and Princess Peach because if they didn't choose to do it by Master Hand's orders, he would destroy their worlds. Unlikely friendships forge beginning with fighting to start with. But together, they will destroy Master Hand and save the multiverse. But eventually, Bowser will betray the fighters and join Master Hand, only to overthrow him and take his place.

Mario reluctantly teams up with Bowser to destroy Master Hand. Mario will make an unlikely friendship with Sonic the Hedgehog and Bowser will eventually reveal his true plans of his team-up with Mario.
