Denise Howard is a recently divorced mother to her three children Lily, Christopher and Mia. Desperate to be with her children, she disguises herself as Mr. Penrose, an elderly male butler so she can see them everyday. She is disliked by her ex father in-law Max who sees her as unworthy of the Howard name. When she becomes Mr. Penrose, she gets instant respect from Max. At Martin's birthday dinner party at the country club, Denise and Stacey both form an unexpected bond with each other. Stacey was the first to discover Denise's secret. Stacey shares something with Denise that she couldn't tell anyone else.
