The island that Kong comes from is located in the heart of the Bermuda Triangle surrounded and hidden by volcanic fog and the island itself is shaped like a skull. It will also feature fan favorite Gorosaurus as an inhabitant of Kong’s island and will fight Kong in one scene as a reference to the traditional T-Rex battle of the Kong lore. The natives of the island are descendants of Native American and African slaves of a Bermudan slave trading ship who revolted against the crew and got shipwrecked on the island in 1617 (a reference to the Peter Jackson’s 1996 script for the 2005 remake), they worship Kong as a wrathful guardian who can be both benevolent and vengeful, and are lead by a female Native American witch doctor. The natives are somewhere between hostile and peaceful towards outsiders due to the stories of what their ancestors have been put through before they got shipwrecked on the island. They also live under the protection of a great wall just like in previous incarnations but we don’t know if it should be made out of stone, wood, or both. In 1933 there was a disastrous expedition to the island in which twenty to thirty perished except for a college intern and all of the footage and photographs of the expedition were confiscated by the government. The scenes for Kong’s island will be filmed in Vietnam and New Zealand.
