General Hager suffers from a deplorable condition called "self-righteousness and jingoism." If it doesn't blow things up, then he considers if frivolous. A former High School quarterback, Hager has found that many of these so-called "geniuses" don't hold military or football in high regard. So why did he take a job as military liaison to the Future Foundation? He didn't. He was assigned to it when a sergeant under his command, Lumpkin, volunteered to head the security for the Baxter Building, which led to every soldier under his command being reassigned there.
