Synopsis

story begins with Seattle, Washington being plagued by a series of murders, which Edward Cullen suspects is caused by a newborn vampire with an uncontrollable thirst for human blood. While Edward and Bella enroll in colleges, Bella tells Edward that she wants to visit her friend, Jacob Black, a Native American Quileute who, like some other members of the tribe, can turn a wolf into a wolf. Edward worries about Bella's safety, but she guarantees that neither Jacob nor the wolf pack would hurt her. During a visit, Jacob tells Bella that he is in love with her; he wants her to choose him over Edward. Bella tells Jacob that she regards him only as a friend. Meanwhile, Alice Cullen has a vision that the vampire Victoria has returned to Forks. Victoria seeks to kill Bella to avenge her mate, James' death.

Doug He and One of Seattle's Newborn Vampire Army Members He was the first to discover that the sun didn't hurt vampires and was killed by Victoria after telling Riley about his discovery. He was mentioned in The Second Second Life of Bree Tanner by Bree when Diego told him that indirect sunlight does not harm them. Bree thought it was impossible and said, "But Shelly and Steve. Doug and Adam. That boy with the bright red hair. All of them. They left because they didn't go back in time. Riley saw the ashes
