The origins of the being known to the children as "He-Who-Walks-Behind-The-Rows" are unclear ,however he is far older than our universe,is a master of manipulation and occultic mind control which he particularly enjoys using on the young and innocent,takes many forms but is himself formless.According to Isaac,his voice is so mighty and dreadful to the human ear that he takes mercy upon us by having prophets like Isaac himself speak for him.
