Scrushy

Richard Marin Scrushy (born August 1952) is an American businessman and convicted felon. He is the founder of HealthSouth Corporation, a global healthcare company based in Birmingham, Alabama. In 2004, following an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Scrushy was criminally charged by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Scrushy was charged with 36 of the original 85 counts but was acquitted of all charges on June 28, 2005, after a jury trial in Birmingham.

Assassin's Creed: The Expanded Universe

The Assassin's Creed universe is a shared fictional universe centered on a historical and modern-day conflict between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templars, who believe in free will versus control, respectively. The universe includes a deep sci-fi lore about an ancient civilization called the Isu, who existed around 75,000 BCE, and their artifacts which are central to the conflict. Players experience the story through the Animus, a device that allows them to relive their ancestors' memories, primarily focusing on the historical settings where the Assassins operated, such as the Crusades, the Italian Renaissance, and the American Revolution. The lore extends across all the games, as well as novels, comics, and other media.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

The broad narrative of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy follows the misadventures of the last surviving Earth man, Arthur Dent, following the demolition of the Earth to make way for a hyperspace bypass. Dent is rescued from Earth's destruction by Ford Prefect—a human-like alien writer for the electronic travel guide The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy—by hitchhiking onto a passing Vogon spacecraft. Following his rescue, Dent explores the galaxy with Prefect and encounters Trillian, another human who was taken from Earth (before its destruction) by the President of the Galaxy, Zaphod Beeblebrox, and Marvin the Paranoid Android. Certain narrative details were changed among the various adaptations.

Kelly–Hopkinsville Encounter

On the evening of August 21, 1955, five adults and seven children arrived at the Hopkinsville police station claiming that small alien creatures from a spaceship had been attacking their farmhouse and that they had been holding them off with gunfire "for nearly four hours". Two of the adults, Elmer Sutton and Billy Ray Taylor, claimed they had been shooting at a few short, dark figures who repeatedly popped up at the doorway or peered into windows. The Kentucky New Era, the first paper to report the incident, increased the number of creatures to "12 to 15," and continues to be the number most often reported.
