The Scarlet Letter (2027)
In 19th-century Boston, Massachusetts, a nameless man and the novel's primary narrator works as a surveyor at the local customhouse. In the attic, he discovers a bunch of documents, with a manuscript imprinted with a large, red "A" on the front cover, that depicts the life of a woman named Hester Prynne that occurs long before the man's current time. After he loses his job at the customhouse, the narrator writes and retells the story from the manuscript. 200 years earlier, in Boston in the late 1630s, Hester Prynne was led from her prison cell with an infant in her arms during the Puritan settlement. She stands on the town scaffold when she is publicly humiliated and punished by the townsfolk for committing adultery, resulting in her child's birth. She was condemned to wear a bright letter "A" patch on her breast as a sign of her crime. While on the scaffold, she was repeatedly asked the name of her baby's father, but she refused. She spots an older man she recognizes in the crowd. He is her estranged husband, who she thought was lost at sea but had arrived in Boston and changed his name to Roger Chillingworth.

Wuthering Heights (2028)
In 1801, a gentleman named Mr. Lockwood stays as a tenant at Thrushcross Grange, a stately house in the Yorkshire moors. He meets his landlord: a dark, brooding man named Mr. Heathcliff, who lives in the nearby house of Wuthering Heights. While visiting his landlord's home, Mr. Lockwood gets snowed in and is forced to spend the night. He stays inside a mysterious room where a ghostly woman tries to break through the window. After returning to Thrushcross Grange, Mr. Lockwood becomes ill and is confined to bed. While he is cared for by the housekeeper, Nelly Dean, she tells him the story of Heathcliff and the family of Wuthering Heights. 30 years earlier, Mr. Earnshaw was the Heights owner in the mid-1770s, and he lived there with his wife and two young children, Hindley and Catherine. Nelly grew up with the Earnshaws and would later be their servant. One day, Mr. Earnshaw goes to Liverpool on a business trip and brings home an orphaned, homeless boy he found on the streets. He names the child Heathcliff and adopts him into the family. Catherine and Heathcliff become close, while Hindley is jealous of the boy. Both Heathcliff and Catherine grew into romantic soulmates.
