The Lynxley family tries to kill her using a weapon called the Gatebreaker, leading to civil war. As cosmic monsters invade Earth through rifts, Josephine evolves into a living conduit of gate energy, merging with the rift system to fight the Executioner and ultimately destroy the Devourer in a universe-scale battle. After saving reality, she collapses and wakes in the infirmary to learn she is pregnant, hinting her Gatekeeper legacy will continue through her child.
