Playable characters include Raiden, the Thunder God invited to fight in the tournament, in human (and thus killable) form; Liu Kang, a Shaolin monk determined to stop Shang Tsung; Johnny Cage, a Hollywood movie star who wants the publicity; Sonya Blade, a US Special Forces agent; Kano, a tyrant being pursued by Sonya Blade; Sub-Zero, a mercenary ninja with orders to assassinate Shang Tsung and Scorpion, a murdered ninja who has been brought back from the dead to try and kill Sub-Zero, the man who murdered him.

The Return of Spider-Man

8 years have passed since Gwen Stacy and aunt May died and Spider-Man retired. New York is now free of supervillains and superheroes and is controlled by police force under the control of mayor Wilson Fisk. Peter has tried to have a normal life and has fullfilled his dream of becoming a scientist, as he works at Horizon Labs. But when he slowly uncovers the real truth behind New York's recent safety, he decides to return as Spider-Man to save the city once more.

1 year after the death and disappearance of twin sisters, Hannah and Beth, 8 friends, Mike, Matt, Chris, Emily, Ashley, Jessica, Josh and Sam return to the cabin in the mountains belonging to the parents of their friend Josh, brother of the missing sisters. Shortly after arriving, the friends realize that they may not be the only people on this mountain.
