Ella Enchanted
At birth, Ella is inadvertently cursed by an imprudent young fairy named Lucinda, who bestows on her the "gift" of obedience. Anything anyone tells her to do, Ella must obey. When her beloved mother dies, leaving her in the care of a mostly absent and avaricious father, and later, a loathsome stepmother and two treacherous stepsisters, Ella's life and well-being seem to be in grave peril. But her intelligence and saucy nature keep her in good stead as she sets out on a quest for freedom and self-discovery as she tries to track down Lucinda to undo the curse, fending off ogres, befriending elves, and falling in love with a prince along the way.
The Lunar Chronicles
The Lunar Chronicles are futuristic retellings of classic fairy tales. In Cinder, a teenage cyborg (half human, half machine) must deal with a wicked stepmother, start a rebellion against the evil Queen Levana, and decide how she feels about a handsome prince. As the series continues, Cinder forges alliances with Scarlet, a spaceship pilot who is determined to solve the mystery of a missing loved one—with the help of a magnetic street fighter named Wolf; Cress, a computer hacker who is imprisoned by Queen Levana; and Winter, a princess who's in love with a commoner, and who discovers that Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress may hold the key to saving her kingdom—and the world.
Michael Vey
Michael Vey is a teenager with Tourette's syndrome and an electrical superpower that he desperately works to keep hidden from the world. His abilities allow him to shock people through physical contact, much like an electric eel.
The False Prince Series
Four orphan boys. One treacherous plan. An entire kingdom to fool. A Nobleman takes four orphan boys to reenact as Prince Jaron--the long lost prince of Carthya--knowing the royal family's death means no heir to the throne. Tobias--the educational one, who thinks he's special because so. Roden--orphan, who is healthy-looking, large, and tan, strong and good with a sword. Uneducated. Latamer--sickly orphan boy who gets tramatized when he says that he would like to leave the quest. And Sage--old, poor orphan, very daring and sarcastic, rebels against authority. . . . Only one will win.
