Robert Anthony De Niroย (born August 17, 1943) is an American actor and film producer. Considered one of his generation's greatest and most influential actors, De Niro has receivedย various accolades, including twoย Academy Awardsย and aย ย Golden Globe Award, as well as nominations for eightย BAFTA Awardsย and fourย Emmy Awards. He was honoured with theย AFI Life Achievement Awardย in 2003, theย Kennedy Center Honorsย in 2009, theย Cecil B. DeMille Awardย in 2011, and theย Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Awardย in 2019. De Niro was presented with theย Presidential Medal of Freedomย by U.S. Presidentย Barack Obamaย in 2016.

De Niro and producerย Jane Rosenthalย founded the film and television production companyย TriBeCa Productionsย in 1989, which has produced several films alongside his own. Also with Rosenthal, he founded theย Tribeca Film Festivalย in 2002. Many of De Niro's films are considered classics of American cinema. Six of De Niro's films have been inducted into theย United States National Film Registryย by theย Library of Congressย as "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" as of 2023.
