    Gopal (Sivaji Ganesan), a rich businessman returns to Ooty from Malaysia on ship. In his journey he accidentally meets Latha (B.Saroja Devi) and her father (VK Ramaswamy). When a rich business man (Gopal). In Ooty he meets Latha and her father while watching horse race. He invites them to his house for stay. Gopal falls in love with Latha and she reciprocates it. With the concurrence of her father, he decides to marry Latha. In the betrothel ceremony, Chitra (Sowcar Janaki) appears and claim that Gopal married her in Malaysia. Betrothel ceremony stops. Rangan (M.R.Radha) claiming to be paternal uncle of Chitra supports the claim. Gopal claims that the lady was not her first wife Chitra but she looks like Chitra. He tells that Chitra died in a train accident in Malaysia. No one believes him. He goes through a heavy emotional trauma before finding out the truth about the people around him. When the relationship between him and Latha was about to break the truth was revealed.

    Embarrassed by the birth of a son, an unwed Kunthi (M.V. Rajamma) instructs her maid to abandon him in the river Ganga. The child is set afloat and is rescued, adopted, and named Karna (Shivaji Ganesan) by Charioteer Adhiratha and his wife, Radha. After maturing he does not want to follow in his foster father's footsteps and wants to be a warrior. Unable to secure the patronage of any Guru due to his parentage, he is assisted by Suryadev and then by Sage Parshuram, and excels in all forms of warfare especially archery. He then befriends Prince Dhuryodhana (Ashokan), will participate in the humiliation of Draupadi - setting the initial grounds of the battle of Kurukshetra - where he will join Dhuryodhana to battle the Pandavas - none other than Kunthi's sons.
  • Thiruvilayadal
    Devrishi Narad visits Bhagwan Shri Shivji, Devi Maa Parvati, and their sons, Bhagwan Shri Ganesh, and Bhagwan Shri Kartikeya, and presents Shivji with a fruit. He decides to give it to his wife, who, in turn, decides to give it to her sons. But Shivji wants her to give it to only one. As a result, both the sons are put to a test, and Ganeshji is declared the winner. Kartikeyaji gets offended and decides to leave, followed closely by his parents and brother. Parvatiji catches up to him and narrates a series of stories involving herself and Shivji, including how Shivji battled a giant shark; assisted a singer in overcoming a formidable opponent; as well as Shivji's anger with his father-in-law.
