Heitor Teixeira Pereiraย (Portuguese pronunciation:[ejหtoสย tejหสejษพษย peหษพejษพษ]) (born November 29, 1960), orย Heitor TP, is a Brazilian composer. In his career, Pereira has recorded with the bandย Simply Redย and several famous musicians, such asย Elton John,ย Rod Stewart,ย k.d. lang,ย Milton Nascimento,ย andย Jack Johnson,ย and currently works as a film score composer, as well as a musician atย Hans Zimmer's studio, he is best known for being the composer of theย Despicable Meย franchise. Although primarily a guitarist, he also provided backing vocals live for the Simply Red song "Thrill Me". He also collaborates with film directorsย Chris Renaud,ย Pierre Coffin,ย Kyle Balda,ย Raja Gosnell, andย Cal Brunker.
In 1994, he released a solo album in theย UKย calledย Heitor TP, which featured a guest appearance fromย Mick Hucknallย on the track "Manchester." Heitor left Simply Red to concentrate on his solo career. He played guitar and composed additional music for soundtracks likeย Gladiator,ย Mission: Impossible 2,ย The Road to El Dorado,ย Pearl Harbor,ย I Am Sam,ย Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron,ย Rango,ย Madagascar, andย Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.
In 2003, Pereira contributed the song "Remember Me" to the soundtrack forย Something's Gotta Give.
In 2006, Heitor Pereira won aย Grammy Awardย for 'Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying a Vocalist' on a version of the song "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?" byย Chris Bottiย andย Sting.
In 2011, he played guitar on the filmย Cowboys & Aliens soundtrack.
