Barkhad Abdiย (Somali:ย Barkhad Cabdi,ย IPA:[bร rxรกdฬชย สรกbdฬชรฌ];ย born April 10, 1985) is aย Somali-Americanย actor. He made his acting debut as the pirateย Abduwali Museย in the biographical drama filmย Captain Phillipsย (2013), which earned him aย British Academy Film Awardย forย Best Actor in a Supporting Role, along withย Academy Award,ย Golden Globe Award, andย Screen Actors Guild Awardย nominations.
Following his breakthrough, Abdi appeared in the filmsย Eye in the Skyย (2015),ย Good Timeย (2017),ย The Pirates of Somaliaย (2017), andย Blade Runner 2049 (2017). Outside of film, he was featured as a series regular on the second season of theย Huluย horror anthologyย Castle Rockย (2019) and had a recurring role in theย Showtimeย satirical comedy seriesย The Curse (2023).
