  • In the movie’s climax, The Marauders have The X-Men in dire straights. As it looks like they're about to be finished off, Magneto resurfaces and turns the tide of the battle. With The Marauders all but defeated, Magneto reveals to Charles that he's found a way for mutants to live free of human tyranny and makes one last plea for them to join forces. When Charles refuses, Magneto kills the wounded Marauders and escapes with Essex as a hostage; but Rogue stays behind having had enough of Magneto’s extremist behavior. As the defeated X-Men try to regroup from the disaster, Weapon X appears from the shadows to take out Charles. In the ensuing scuffle, several members of the team are left severally wounded but still manage to overpower Weapon X long enough for Charles to disable him mentally. In the movie's closing moments Magneto tosses Essex in front of a suspended animation pod and tells him that if he can open it, he may let him survive. In the mid credits stinger, Charles enters the cell where Weapon X is being held and begins to try and repair his mind. In the post credits stinger, a ship crash lands through a rift in the sky and a metal arm emerges from the wreckage.
