X-Men: Dark Apocalyptic Phoenix is a American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics X-Men characters. It is a sequel to X-Men: First Class And Mutant Revolution, the sixth installment in the Marvel film series, third and final installment of the X-Men Trilogy. It is also the final installment in the X-Men film series to be produced by Bad Hat Harry Productions, though the company was uncredited due to sexual assault allegations made against Bryan Singer on January 23, 2019. It was written, co-produced, and directed by Simon Kinberg (in his feature film directorial debut) and stars an ensemble cast featuring Gary Oldman, Sam Worthington, Scott Eastwood, Evan Rachel Wood, Joel Edgerton, Nathalie Emmanuel, Natalia Dyer, Florian Munteanu, Lily James, Joe Kerry, Liam Hemsworth, Naomi Scott, Nick Robinson, Timothee Chalamet, Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Fumi Nikaido, Jeremy Irons, Ana De Amars, Milo Gibson, Sabrina Carpenter and Christopher Judge. Dark Apocalyptic Phoenix tells the origin story about how Rogue becomes the Phoenix. The story resolves around Rogue struggling with mental illness after a cosmic force enhances her psychic powers, which unlocks trauma from her childhood that causes both her mind and her powers to become unstable. It follows Rogue as she tries to avoid hurting the people she loves, while a very powerful god that is the world's first mutant seeks to control or kill her.
