After being forced to carry out dangerous missions for General Thaddeus Ross, Logan escapes his control. Using Ross's computer system, he discovers Sabretooth's location and heads to Russia. Ross dispatches the Howling Commandos—Taskmaster, Frank Simpson (Nuke), and the mysterious Black Claw—to bring him back. In Russia, Logan enters the criminal underworld and defeats The Russian in a brutal cage fight to earn an audience with its owner, Alexei Shostakov, a former Russian super-soldier and war hero living as a traitor. Alexei introduces Logan to his assistant, Natalia Romanov, and claims not to know his employer personally. Logan recognizes the lie but follows the lead anyway. On the way, Logan encounters the Howling Commandos. Although Frank is easy to defeat, Taskmaster has become far more dangerous since their days in Team X. Black Claw proves even more overwhelming, badly injuring Logan. Natalia rescues him, revealing that she also intends to bring down Omega Red and has a better way to reach him. Using a stolen keycard, they infiltrate Omega Red's weapons-manufacturing base, concealed behind monumental Russian architecture. The Commandos intercept them, separating Logan and Natalia. As Logan battles Black Claw, the Red Guardian intervenes against Taskmaster. Logan is eventually thrown through the floor, where he encounters Sabretooth. Sabretooth unexpectedly saves him, revealing his changed loyalties when he declares Logan is his brother. He kills Omega Red by driving his claws into his neck, triggering a catastrophic explosion. Logan finds Natalia cornered by the Red Guardian and rescues her. She reveals that a tablet contains Omega Red's entire operation and access keys, then warns Logan to watch for “Octopi” before leaving. Searching Omega Red's computers, Logan discovers that Sabretooth's brother is James Howlett—his own name. As Sabretooth lies unconscious, Black Claw approaches and tells him, “Time to leave, Uncle.”
