UPSTATE NEW YORK, 1976 — When naive working class schoolteacher Lionel falls in love with the woman of his dreams, the affluent and glamorous Audra, he learns that the true test to win her heart does not lie in his social standing, but in currying the favor of her elusive and off-putting older brother, Anthony. He is brash, rude, pretentious, and has never approved of a single soul Audra has brought home with her. Handed the hefty task of spending a seemingly-neverending winter with the family on their sprawling estate, Lionel discovers that he and Anthony have far more in common than they ever thought possible, sending the three people on a collision course for the worst possible outcomes.
