  • nathanbates Mmm, i don’t know that Willem should be Ozy. Veidt, like his Miracle Man, is wrapped up in Alan Moore’s notion that superheroes are ultimately externalizations of toxic Aryan savior fantasies like the ones the Nazis were so fond of spreading (Moore is a fun guy.) He deters suspicion with just his classic good looks for a reason. I’m not saying Dafoe wouldn’t do something interesting with the part but you’d have to discard a great deal of that subtext to accommodate him. Just thinking out loud.

  • siddarthsid Another thought I'd like to share is, Dafoe's characters naturally tend to have a suspicious quality about them. This would easily mark him as the villain way too early & the big, climactic reveal would become much less impactful.
