A small town in the rocky mountains struggles to establish crops, and when the townsfolk start talks of seeking help from the natives the xenophobic sheriff becomes violent and tyrannical. when a nearby hunter visits town to sell meats and pelts the people beg him to stand against the sheriff and in the end the hunter has no choice but to kill the sheriff to protect the townsfolk, dumping his body in the woods. afterwards the hunter takes up leadership of the town and makes strides in building trust with the natives, until people from both sides start coming up missing and trust caves to hostility once again
