Undertale is a 2022 American gothic science fiction action film based on the game franchise of the same name. It is the first film in the Undertale film series. Directed by Paul W.S Anderson and produced by Jeremy Bolt, the film features an ensemble cast including Jackie Earle Haley, Jessica Alba, Brad Garrett, Crispin Glover, Andy Serkis, and Milla Jovovich, alongside Keith David, Daniel Kaluuya, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Undertale had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival on August 23rd, 2022 and was released on October 27th. It grossed over $375 million against a break-even point of $143 million, becoming a box-office success and went on to earn $568 million more. The film was met with largely positive reviews, with praise for Anderson's direction, performances (particularly Haley and Alba) action sequences, score, visual effects, story, cinematography, and emotional depth. A sequel is in development with many of the cast members set to return.
