After the Empire takes over, Wanda and Pietro join the X-Men, who are adventuring out to escape the grasp of the Empire. While they search for a new place to call home, Scott encounters a woman who resembles Jean Grey, going by Madelyne Pryor. Madelyne joins the group, and Scott begins to fall in love with her.
