Story Plot

Plagued by vivid and distressing visions of colonised Mars, the ordinary construction worker, Douglas Quaid, nurtures an unquenchable desire to travel to the unknown and distant red planet. To decipher his recurring nightmares, Quaid enlists the help of the memory-implant company, Rekall Inc., to purchase a cheap alternative: the recollection of the ideal virtual vacation. Instead, the procedure backfires, and what Quaid used to perceive as "reality", is no more. Now, someone has put a target on his back, and the bullets start flying. The answers that Quaid is seeking are in Mars; however, what is real, and what is a dream? Are Quaid and his family prepared for the total recall?

  • The movie is essentially the same, but there are some differences: the mutants are tall, slender giants, like the Belters from The Expanse. However, there are many cyborgs among them who have become almost completely dehumanized. These have a neural network that makes them have "psychic powers". Kuato is therefore a cyborg with a dual personality. At some point he lost half of his brain, and it was replaced with an artificial one. This makes him extremely intelligent, though also unstable.
  • @darthcaedus Quaid is a mechanical technician who makes robots that repair robots (ironic). What Cohaagen and company extract from Mars is Hydrogen from underground ice. The colony on Mars is located in a specific place (Cydonia). The story takes place in the year 2184 instead of 2084.
  • @darthcaedus The aesthetics and technology is very similar to that of the Avatar movie, and there are references to a colony on Proxima Centauri where there are "blue Comanches".
