Set in the Segregated Jim Crow South in the 1930s, this iconic story finds Atticus Finch, a dedicated Southern lawyer and father to Jem and Scout Finch defending a Negro man by the name Tom Robinson, who was wrongfully accused of harassing an underaged White girl. Despite Finch's attempts in trying to acquit Robinson of the crime he was indicted with, he was found guilty by an all-white male jury and was shot dead and beaten severely for trying to escape, with the Finch family under scrutiny for feeling sympathy for African-Americans.
