She meets Jack Dawson (20) who convinces her to stay with him and get a better life. However, her bratty fiancee Cal (30) doesn't like the thought of her breaking it off with him and going to date someone from the Third Class. This steward is a recurring background actor in the miniseries. He first appears offering a drink to Cal, then later offering tea and crumpets to Rose, waking passengers and bringing them upstairs during the sinking, and finally, offering a lifejacket to Guggenheim. After Guggenheim orders a brandy, the steward and a bellboy grab one from the lounge and deliver it to him. Moments later, the Grand Staircase floods, sending them into a panicked frenzy.
