  Obviously inspired by @ifancast and his Guy Ritchie Penguin spin-off, I hastily retooled a preexisting idea into this: a Joker-esque quote-unquote prestigious character study based around one of Batman’s supporting characters. The ultimate Batman supporting character, in fact, Alfred J. Pennyworth. Told primarily through flashback, The Young Butler recounts Alfred’s life experiences leading up his fateful first meeting with Thomas Wayne. His time in Burma, trying to catch the devious tangerine-sized ruby bandit, that time he apparently burnt a whole forest down, the two greatest loves of his life, his quiet aiding of the Waynes back in Gotham as they attempt to rehabilitate their city and, finally, the handful of days prior to his young ward, Bruce, disappearing on the day of Joe Chill’s trial.

  @ifancast I was already leaning pretty heavily on allusions to past films and decided it wouldn’t be too big of a step to make a part of the Nolan-verse. Funnily enough, it wouldn’t be the first time Law has taken over a role from Caine, nor the first time that role was a character named Alfred…
