In the aftermath of Avengers: Secret Wars, reality itself collapses and the multiverse is erased—save for one surviving world: Earth-20000. Among the few who outlived the cosmic annihilation is James Howlett, the Wolverine from Earth-1400. Stranded in a strange new universe with almost no one left from his past, James is consumed by grief and futility, his healing factor turning every suicide attempt into another cruel reminder that he cannot die. As mutantkind struggles to rebuild under constant threat from a new breed of Sentinels, James reluctantly joins the last generation of X-Men. In the fire of battle, he finds an unexpected spark of purpose—Jean Grey, whose resilience and compassion awaken a forgotten part of him. Together they face extinction once more, and James discovers that even at the end of all worlds, love and duty can still give meaning to endless pain. He finds comfort through "aggressive meditation" with Earth-20000's Wolverine, Logan, by constantly attempting to kill eachother.
