The story of high school student Daniel Cooper, who discovers he has the X-gene and is subsequently pulled out of class for government examinations and evaluations. As he navigates the challenges of being a mutant in a world that fears and hates their powers, he turns to the internet for guidance and support. He finds himself drawn to the charismatic and villainous Mandrill, who becomes a father-figure and mentor to him. As he is transferred to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Daniel learns to harness his powers and finds a community among his fellow mutants.
