Following the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Jean Grey is on the run and finds a home in Charles Xavier's Institute. She meets fellow mutants her age who she is able to bond with, specifically Scott Summers. Mutants are publicly scrutinized and discriminated with the help of Damage Control and the mouthpiece for mutant hate, William Stryker. The X-Men have to face off against a threat who has been grooming and experimenting on young mutants including Scott when he was in his orphanage. This is a coming of age film about being shunned by society but finding a sense of family in a world that hates and fears you.
