After the success of Fireflies (2025), Simon began to see Laura as his muse to the point of obsession and Cassie began to envy her greatly. It didn’t help that Laura started dated Tyler and would eventually get engaged. Wanting to control her life once and for all, Simon and Cassie decided to work together to kill Tyler.
