15-year-old twins Josh and Sophie Newman are working their regular day jobs in San Francisco, California when they just so happen to be the accidental witnesses of a magical battle, and from then on, their lives are forever changed. Nicholas Flamel, formerly known to Josh and Sophie as humble bookshop owner Nick Fleming, harbors the two twins from Dr. John Dee's wrath, since Dee leaves no witnesses.
