a mysterious videotape filled with nightmarish and strange visuals that warns the viewer via a phone call that they will die within seven days unless a certain, unspecified act is performed. Exactly one week after watching the tape. Japanese American news reporter Rebecca Asakawa is a bit intrigued and a little skeptical of the story until the four teenagers in Japan all mysteriously simultaneously dying on week thanks to the tape. Rebecca decides to travel to Japan and investigate curiously but that curiosity gets the better of her as she tracks down the tapes watches it. Now she has seven days to uncover and unravel this mystery
