The frozen ocean to the interior of a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. Medical monitors quietly beep as Peggy slowly opens her eyes. Disoriented, she sits up and looks around the unfamiliar room. She walks to the large observation window. Instead of wartime London, she sees towering skyscrapers, modern aircraft, and a world transformed by time. Confused, Peggy hears footsteps behind her. She quickly grabs a nearby chair, ready to defend herself. The door opens. Standing in the doorway are Colonel Nick Fury Sr. and Corporal Dum Dum Dugan. Fury calmly raises his hands. Dum Dum immediately recognizes the legendary soldier he fought beside. Peggy asks the question she's been holding onto since waking. After a long silence, Fury gently explains the truth. The war ended. Seventy years have passed. Although grief washes over Peggy as she realizes everyone she once knew is gone or has grown old, she finds comfort in knowing that the Allies won and the world she fought to protect survived.
