The story is set two weeks after the events of Under the Swastika. Joseph Stalin, having learned of Hitler's death, has reinforced the Red Army with new weapons and more soldiers and has set out to conquer Europe, including neutral countries, and is slowly approaching Great Britain. Bond decides to liquidate the tyrant and his lover and Warsaw Uprising veteran Agata Cichowska helps him again.
