The Rangers is a superhero live action standalone film, based on the Texas-centered hero team originating from Marvel Comics and created by Bill Mantlo. It follows them as they clash with the Acolytes, a group of mutant villains who plot to assassinate the newly elected Lone Star State governor Jeremiah "Jem" Doaks, and unleash chaos by blowing up the local Roxxon power plant. Rangers explores the team in ways that die hard comic book fans are mostly familiar with, and non-readers will at the same time get the sense of home state pride that is strongly present.
