seejee22 I got the impression from the book that DCI Chris Hudsom was at least in his late 40s--at least twice as old as Donna De Freitas, and overweight to start--until he fell in love with Donna's mom. Then he started to eat healthier and lost weight for her. In the first book, though, he was overweight. A lot of the actors proposed for the role for Hudson look either too young or too trim.
