The Mad King follows the rise and tragic downfall of Aerys II Targaryen, his troubled marriage to Rhaella, and the events that ultimately lead to the Tourney at Harrenhal and Robert’s Rebellion.
I thought it would be better for the show to have a time jump, similar to House of the Dragon. So, for some characters, I chose two actors: one for their younger version before the time jump, and another for their older version after the time jump. The time jump happens before the Tourney at Harrenhal, so we see the older versions of the characters during the tourney and throughout the rebellion.
The actors marked “(young)” are the versions we see before the time jump. After the time jump, the roles are recast with older actors.
