In 1183 Henry II releases his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine from prison and calls for his sons Richard, John, and Geoffrey to join them at their Castle in Chinon for a family Christmas. Young King Philip is insisting his sister Alais now marries John as agreed years before, or else he wants her dowry, the lands of the Vexen, back. Trouble is, she is Henry's current mistress. As Eleanor has already gifted the province of Aquitaine to her favorite, Richard, the outcome of this may decide the very future of England. Everyone except the pawn Alais are masters of double-dealing and deception, which makes for a very lively Yuletide.read more

Description of Prince Richard (Richard the Lionheart):

The eldest surviving son of Henry and Eleanor, their second son Henry having recently died. Richard is handsome, graceful and impressive and has been a famous soldier since his middle teens. War is his profession and he is good at it. He is easily the strongest and toughest of the three sons/princes. Richard and Philip Capet have been sexually involved prior to the action of the play. However, Philip declares that he participated in the affair purely for political purposes, whereas Richard indicates he had genuine affection for Philip.
