The year is 1933. New Camden is choking under the weight of the Great Depression. Whole neighborhoods are becoming shantytowns, and hope is running low. One such neighborhood, Juniper Hollow, is filled with tents, makeshift homes, and people who’ve lost everything. When a child with tuberculosis is reported “healed” and then vanishes days later, Rebecca Stein, a dogged reporter at the Chronicle, starts asking questions.
