In 1944, Wonder Woman and the Justice Society of America (JSA), a team of extraordinary heroes, valiantly battle Nazi soldiers on a war-torn battlefield. This team, composed of heroes like the Flash, Hawkman, Green Lantern, Black Canary, Doctor Fate, and others, is funded by the U.S. government to fight the Axis Powers. Their heroics help end World War II, earning them worldwide recognition and respect. However, by 1979, the JSA faces a new kind of conflict. With members retiring, dying, or being replaced, the team’s efforts and sacrifices are increasingly questioned by the government, which demands more control over their actions and identities. As anti-vigilante sentiment grows and government pressure mounts, the JSA struggles to maintain its independence and integrity. The tragic death of Hourman and the public’s shifting perception force the team into hiding. Vandal Savage, seizing this opportunity, launches an attack on Washington, D.C., alongside the Dragon King. Despite a valiant fight, several heroes fall, including Hawkman and Green Lantern. In the aftermath, the JSA captures Savage but disbands, disillusioned by the government's betrayal. The remaining members retire or go underground, marking the end of an era for the once-celebrated Justice Society of America.
