  • misterwolf Plot: As Beth McDale and her hiking team continue their journey in Mount Everest, they begin to run out of oxygen. Beth has also started to become uneasy, and her younger sister Amy starts to worry about her. One day, Amy confronts Beth over her facade about being "perfectly fine" when she is clearly not; when Amy finally yells a demand for an answer, Beth finally relents and says "Because I'm pregnant!".

  • misterwolf A shocked Amy then helps Beth stay on her feet as the team spots an outpost; upon entering, they are given the relief of air, and they refill their oxygen tanks. When Amy questions Beth about her pregnancy, she reveals that it happened during an arranged marriage caused by their father, before she called it off and severed her ties with him. The team is suddenly attacked by a disfigured but still-alive Viktor Kosinvo, who kills most of them and wounds Mark Travers, while Beth rigs the outpost to blow; Kosinvo escapes when Beth and Amy carry Mark away and blow the outpost.

  • misterwolf Two days later as the hike continues and they become fortunate to find another outpost, Mark discovers that he is dealing with a blood infection in his broken ribcage, which was the injury he sustained when Kosinvo attacked him. However, Beth and Amy are unable to treat him as they are out of the medications required for blood infections, so they call for a helicopter to take them away. Unfortunately, it will take three days for it to arrive, meaning that Mark will likely die before it gets to them. On day one, they are forced to leave the outpost as Amy spots Kosinvo climbing on the opposite side of their position; though Beth struggles to run because of her pregnancy, she manages to run as fast as the cold can let her, and another outpost is reached after two hours of climbing. Mark's condition begins to worsen, and a weary Beth's pregnancy starts to become more burdensome. Amy cares for Beth as the second day begins, and the three begin the final stage of their adventure, as the third day will be when they reach the mountain's peak.

  • misterwolf Mark is unable to continue on, as his blood infection has put him on his deathbed. He encourages Beth and Amy to go on without him, and tells them that even though he will die, the helicopter they requested will find him after it finds them. As the sisters start to climb, Mark succumbs to his infection and dies peacefully, but not before shooting a flare as a warning that Kosinvo is once again following them. All Beth can say at that point before she continues on with Amy is "Oh come on.... ---k, ---K!!!!!!", just as Kosinvo loots Mark's body and follows the sisters.

  • misterwolf As the third day approaches, the sisters reach the final outpost, where Beth contemplates giving up; Amy persuades her to continue, saying that this is what Mark would want. After agonizing hours, they reach the peak, but Kosinvo attacks them, and a violent fight erupts, with Kosinvo losing two of his fingers and Amy getting her left arm broken, while Beth, despite getting her leg sliced open, narrowly avoids his attacks towards her abdomen; she grabs her ice climbing pick, which was knocked out of her grasp during the fight, and gains the upper hand, severely wounding Kosinvo. When Kosinvo refuses to stop, Beth draws a concealed revolver (which had belonged to her uncle Ryan before he died on the mountain) from her pocket and shoots him dead. As the snow begins to bury Kosinvo, Beth lays next to Amy, both seriously injured. They hold hands and express their sisterly love for each other, signifying that they are ready to die if the helicopter does not arrive on time, and they both go unconscious. Upon waking up, Beth discover that the journey was a success and the helicopter they requested has indeed arrived and taken both her and Amy to a hospital. Beth is overjoyed to hear that her baby has survived, and even moreso that Amy has survived as well.

  • misterwolf Nine months later, Beth has given birth to a daughter and named her "Alicia Amy McDale", her middle name being after Amy herself, though their mother Lillian has died from leukemia. Mark's father Robert gives Beth his son's memento, a combat knife that belonged to his brother before his own death. As the sisters visit the graves of their loved ones, they both acknowledge that the true adventure was more than just climbing Everest. Before the end credits roll, Beth places her uncle's heirloom inside his now-unnocuppied house, indicating that she is ready to move on.
