For five years, Barry Allen has protected Central City and Keystone City as the Flash, while his young partner, Wally West, has fought alongside him as Kid Flash. Although Barry treats Wally like a younger brother, Wally constantly compares himself to his mentor and worries that he will never be good enough to become a hero like him. When a battle involving the original Mirror Master causes a mysterious interdimensional collider to malfunction, Barry sacrifices himself to save the city and is presumed dead. Determined to continue Barry's legacy, Wally takes up the Flash mantle—but struggles because he tries to imitate everything Barry could do. Meanwhile, Evan McCulloch, a bitter former engineer who works at the Flash Museum, gains mirror-based powers from the collider accident and becomes Mirror Master. Unlike Barry, McCulloch isn't motivated by money or power; he wants to become famous and leave behind a legacy that everyone will remember. As Mirror Master repairs the collider and plans to use it to make himself famous across the multiverse, Wally's failures force him to confront his insecurities. After Iris reminds him that Barry never wanted him to become a copy of himself, Wally finally understands that his own actions—not his ability to imitate Barry—are what make him a hero. With a new Flash suit of his own, Wally confronts Mirror Master as the collider threatens to tear reality apart. Pushed to his limits, Wally connects with the Speed Force and encounters Barry, who reminds him to stop thinking and simply feel. Wally returns stronger, defeats Mirror Master, and saves him rather than allowing him to die. In the aftermath, McCulloch begins working to make amends, while Barry's original suit is placed in the Flash Museum alongside a new exhibit honoring Wally as the Flash. Wally finally understands that legacy isn't about being remembered by everyone—it's about the people whose lives you change.
