This pitch would just be a straight up character study on Kaya. A tale of two lives if you will. His attempt to manage his superhero life while still trying to understand his newly discovered powers and these odd effects. But also trying to survive high school from the bully, Thomas and especially 1980’s society’s very limited understanding of autism. Something akin to Jessica Cruz Green Lantern as while she’s a superhero she still struggles with Anxiety. Plot A is more about Kaya’s after effects from the spider bite and how it puts more pressure on him emotionally while at the same time needed to defeat the villain of the movie, let’s give him… Pulse. A character that could serve as Kaya’s mirror reflection if Kaya didn’t get that push in the right direction. Plot B can be about his home and school life while reconnecting with his brother and that relationship gives him motivation. While also trying to bring the family closer together. Obviously we’ll bring in Mariah as the love interest and Joseph can give Kaya pointers. A la Miles and Aaron in SpiderVerse. Kaya realizing that Mariah is a kindred spirit of sorts despite the pretty girl facade. The horror stuff can be for Kaya’s metamorphosis involving nightmares, the effect of his powers, early crime fighting moments and Pulse’s electric based body horror.
