An ancient prophecy, known as the Tyranny of the Sun, described in a Scroll of the Ancients, which predicts the eternal darkening of the sun. The scroll provides instructions for a magical ritual to be performed using a mythical bow, the Bow of Auriel, and a special blood sacrifice. A horde of vampires, known as the Volkihar Clan and led by Lord Harkon, seeks to fulfil this prophecy. Meanwhile, the Dawn Guard, a faction of vampire hunters armed with crossbows, are swelling their ranks to counter the increasingly frequent incursions of vampires. The Dragonborn must join the Dawn Guard and prevent Nirn from falling into eternal night.
