Synopsis

Jude was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King. To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences. As Jude becomes more deeply embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodshed. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

  • anshupadigla I think Josephine Langford should be Jude and lili Reinhart or Katherine Langford Taryn. Or the other way around based off who fits which role better idk. I think there’s rumors of the langford sisters’ relationship being strained or something

  • user_33234 Jude is not described with tanned skin, she is actually described with pale skin multiple times during the series. additionally HB confirmed Jude's dad is of mixed white and hispanic heritage, its also safe to assume her mother is also white, so she doesn't belong to only latin descent she belongs to a quarter latin descent... if i remember correctly HB mentioned her dad is of partly Brazilian or Portuguese descent

    • user_12731 @idwbha her surname is Duarte, and iirc she actually said her dad was of mixed Latinx ancestry (as, might I remind everyone, most Latinx people are mixed between European, Indigenous, and African to some extent anyways)-- there's a difference! I just think it's very weird how everyone immediately jumps to assuming that because her mother's ethnicity is never stated, she is automatically going to be a white girl, at least start fancasting southern european actresses (or even white latinx actresses-- Anya Taylor-Joy, India Eisley, Ana de Armas, Kaya Scodelario, etc) if you're so insistent that by default she's white. I would call her look in fanart more "ethnically ambiguous" than anything else, and I'd say this entire fancast thread is doing a poor job with (Specified Character of Color) Heather's fancasting as well, since she's literally described with brown skin and y'all just pulled out the same 5 light skinned biracial actresses a la big movie studios casting Storm from X-Men.

    • user_12731 @user_33234 Holly Black actually confirmed her dad is of latin american descent, so yes, she should be played by a Latinx actress. Why assume that her mother is white?

    • idwbha @user_12731 Holly actually said her dad is of mixed white and Hispanic ethnicity. There’s nothing in the books that can even hint she belongs to Hispanic descent, there isn't any cultural link either. She’s described as physically white in the books, and in Fan arts. I think it’s safe to assume her mother is white because if she wasn’t wouldn’t the author say that? Like she did with her father?

  • smurf There are so many good actresses that could play jude. Whether or not she was explicitly described as latin, i think having her casted as such would not hurt. I had suggested florence pugh or jenna ortego, but courtney eaton is such a good idea too. I've never heard of her before but i have seen a bit of her work and i think she could pull it off. She certainly has the look.
