Eli has been a semi-retired five-time gold medalist and track and field athlete for the Special Olympics, being the most athletically-fit out of the other competitors. When not competing in the tournaments, he works as an electrician and power-line repairman. During a routine repair on the transformer of a telephone pole, a storm rolled in and while he was working, he got struck by a bolt of lightning, which caused the transformer to explode and Eli received a powerful electrocution, which landed him in the hospital. Upon his recovery, Eli discovered mutagenic changes and newfound abilities like superhuman speed; capable of sprinting faster than the speed of sound (up to 799,344 mph), manipulate electrical currents and can even freeze time itself while running.
