2 seconds into the future, 13 girls ages 13-19 are selected for a high-stakes competition called The Choosing, which is a popularity contest with a dark twist. This year, kind and outgoing Maeve is selected, and so starts a downward spiral of violence, sex, and betrayal. Inspired by The Hunger Games, Danganronpa, and Black Swan.
