Forty years ago, a mysterious " Event" caused every citizen of the city-state of Paradigm City to lose all their memories. Within this noir-inspired retro-future urban sprawl, protagonist Roger Smith works as a Negotiator, mediating various troubles of Paradigm City's citizens. Meanwhile, he leads a double life as the pilot of "Big O" a giant robot known as a "Megadeus" to battle against reawakened monsters of the city's past.
